Guinea Pig Party

16th September 2020

Yes, in real life. We did this tonight. And for the love of everything, please note that Legend the guinea looks like she is smiling in the above picture.

One of my daughter’s guinea pigs turned one today and she wanted to do a celebration and in just 15 minutes, you too can create a guinea party just like this. ! I know you are in desperate desire to.

My child bought them edible flip flop chew toys for guineas and wanted them to have a cake. When she ran next door, I made a veggie cake for the birthday pig with a candle and cupcake stands with sides of veggies for the other two guineas. You should also note the heart shape hay chews for the guest pigs. Those treats were also a gift from my 10 year old to her pigs.

I hope everyone enjoyed this segment of “Yes, we really did do that”. Other names for this segment that were considered: “I better be your favorite parent” and “Oh, Santa is so nice that he got you the guinea you wanted that I never would? Think again. Ho ho ho, player.” That was too wordy though. Enjoy your night.

OBGYN Retirement Party

3rd March 2020

How is this old general store for a piece of Americana?! My Jersey born and raised OBGYN just retired and I was asked to do her retirement party! I know she won’t always live here in KY so I wanted to give her a solid and unique Kentucky party to remember all of her years here by. Meet Boyce General Store! Boyce Store is a running restaurant out in the county that is run by The Pie Queen. She has her pies in some Whole Foods locations and ships all over the nation! She gets the name honest and you should check her out. I literally….literally….ate one whole pie by myself the day after. Sad times. Great pie.

I came up with this wording two years ago when I was first asked to do this retirement party. The wording never gets old. Go-vary….the phrase of the future for all of your reproductive party needs.

These AMAZING truly vintage tablecloths are owned by the Boyce Store and can be used at your event. This store basically decorates itself. There isn’t a more charming venue in town!

I had no idea that sunflowers were my doc’s favorite flower. I just took a guess. Something about the way she gives a pap smears made me think, “Sunflowers. This woman loves sunflowers.”

I added latex gloves because every medical party needs blown up gloves! I first used blown up latex gloves at my daughter’s type 1 diagnosis anniversary, also known as a diaversary!

Those little tiny purple flowers are called wax flower and I love them around a pie and back.

FUN FACT ALERT: The square cake stand to the right was literally Duncan Hines’ cake stand!

We had a mix of homemade pies served with coffee and lemon and lime water. Chess, pecan, derby, brownie, chocolate silk, coconut cream pie, we had them all! They were yummy in my tummy.

“A Sweet Ending” over the pie table and “To A New Beginning” over the drink and scrapbook table. Swoon.

And the ovary puns just don’t stop……

In my hometown there is a bakery that has been here since the 40’s. Their most popular item are their famous tea cookies and they just so happen to be my OB’s favorite. These were supplied by a patient and co-worker who, like all of us, loves her dearly.

I hired a friend of mine to use her machine to cut these Kentucky shapes out of scrapbook paper for me. Also by hired, I mean for free.

I have something cool I’m doing with these now post-party that I will share in a different post.

I created a Facebook group and requested people send me pictures so that I could hang them up at her party.

These pill bottles make my heart soar on the wings of a hundred doves. These were grab and go favors and filled with those little tea cookies I talked about above.

The labels I customized on Etsy from the shop Bsquared and printed them at Staples where I do all of my party printing.

There are very few doctors on planet earth who have patients who love them enough to host a party for them. This woman is one of the finest doctors to practice medicine. She served us all with as much expertise as she did time and empathy. She comforted us through infertility, through loss, and through the magic of delivering our children. Dr. Kasica deserves a hundred parties for every late night call, 2 .am. delivery, thoughtful question, and for every treat she kept for my children and other’s in her office. Twenty five wonderful years of a career and dear lady we got to call our doctor. We love you, Dr, Kasica! Thank you for caring for and loving us well all of these years!

Rap Theme Christmas Party

9th December 2019

Listen, I am going to start off by saying that a rap party is my dream party. I wanted to throw myself a rap party for my birthday but couldn’t so, rap Christmas was born! Ho ho ho, players.

Few people love rap as much as me. I’d play some Christian rap at my funeral in a heartbeat. Tell me I’m lyin’…. Some of y’all are gonna want to come to that party too now. Everyone’s invited.

I hope that Biggie, Pac, and Jay really get your heart in the Christmas spirit. Merry Christmas, y’all. It ain’t nothin’ but a Christmas party.

Source for this Tupac file: SaraLuDesign on Etsy

What would you do if someone handed you one of these guys to invite you to a party? I handed them to myself a few times to act like someone was inviting me to my own party because…..I mean…..rap Christmas.

They are actually rapper Christmas cards that I used as party invites and they were everything I wanted! You can find them here:

Tupac and Snoop: YeaOhGreetings on Etsy

Biggie Claus: MakemTakem on Etsy

Number one: Did I wrinkle this red paper runner in to lines on purpose so I could write straight? Answer: No, my 5 year old stepped on the roll of paper and it was all I had left. See, now you know why I call Her Party Pants “realistic Pinterest”. In real homes at real parties, kids be ruining your set up and all that mess.

Number two: Couldn’t you have just gone to the store and bought more? Answer: This is getting really personal.

Number three: Tupac had a song called “Dear Mama” that said, “Dear Mama, You are appreciated.” That’s the last thing I have to say about my serving table runner.

These amazing cupcake toppers came from JazzNJayCreations on Etsy and I was so excited about getting these! They are one of my favorite things that I used for the party.

I’m real happy to see you in my dessert, Jay Z. 90’s and early 2000 Jay Z is probably my favorite rapper ever. Good job, Jay.

I hope you guys really like the cassette tapes on this tree because some real-life 90s karaoke tapes of mine were painted for this event. I added gold chain, which I bought by the roll at Hobby Lobby. I bet you didn’t know Hobby Lobby had some gangster in it’s life but, you’d be real wrong.

I added the Busta ornaments because nothing screams I love 90s rap and Christmas like Busta Rhymes. If he doesn’t make you holler “Merry Christmas and I love this rap party”, then you probably hate the holidays. It’s a guess.

I made this ornament by ripping one of the heads off of my cupcake toppers from JazzNJayCreations on Etsy and then hot gluing some string on the back.

I made this ornament by ripping the face off of one of my rapper cupcake topper sticks that I had in the desserts I served. I saved this rapper for the tree to spice things up a bit.

Yes, your eyes do not deceive you. These are called Hiphopsicles and they are as magical as you are feeling like they are right now.

This is how I decorated myself. This is a real gold chain. You are so welcome. I ordered this shirt from Zazzle and if you don’t know where this wording comes from….you might not like this party near as much as me.

That’s right. Happy HOLLABAES. This is getting wonderful. I bought the card stock and had my friend use her machine to the cut the letters for me. I jumbled the letters all up so she wouldn’t know what I was spelling so she couldn’t guess the theme lol. Surprise you stinkin’ little hollabae cutter!

This picture is missing two, but these are some extra special homies who I invited as people who would appreciate this kind of 90s rapper’s dream come true.

I used stiff felt and a big ole’ one dollar ornament from Mighty Dollar to make these holly and berry pieces. They were so easy and I loved them big time.

Garland I already owned? Check. A pack of hunnit dolla bills for one dollar? Also, check. Easy table centerpiece? You bet your momma check.

I made all of these mugs myself and everyone got to take one home! I got the mugs from Mighty Dollar and they are actually heavy and substantial!

Using an oil-based Sharpie marker, I whipped up these up. (Any by “whipped” I mean like an hour and a half of wiping them off with alcohol and starting again.

Started from the bottom now we deer... That is a phrase from one of YeaOhGreetings cards where I bought two of my “invites” from.

Help you with your cuh-reer” I made up and it was one of my favorites. Get it…Mrs. Clause….with Santa….Lizzo….help you with your cuh-reer….

All the Jingle Ladies I have seen before and Beyonce isn’t a rapper, but her husband is soooooooooo I’ll take it!

Will I live to be twenty fo’? The way things is goin’, I don’t know. I also came up with this scene of the snowmen falling down and with the help of these Coolio lyrics, all was right in the world.

fa la la OKURRRRRR..….Well, I didn’t invent fa la la and Cardi B says OKURRR, but I put this together as a fun holiday recipe.

Snow Torious….that’s obvious right? Please say yes….

I’ve been wanting to use a gold chain necklace for two years now. Welcome home, friend. You’re safe now.

I added a dollar sign that I cut out of glitter card stock because it needed that extra-baller flare. Flare is a word all the rappers use these days.

If you need a chain link balloon in your life, they aren’t cheap because they are purchased link by link, but you can find them tons of places on Etsy.

I bought these cheetah cuffed stocking from, drum roll please…..Dollar Tree. Sorry if that threw someone off with the Dollar Store bit and my parties. Below is what all I put in them.

You read those chips right: Rap Snacks. It’s like the universe was saying, “Hey, I want you to really do this party.” I got them on 70 percent off clearance from Spirit Halloween for 50 cents a bag! I walked up to the counter with a big arm full and said, “I bet you were wondering who was going to buy all of these. It’s me.” True story.

Fun fact: They are actually really stinkin’ good. I legit may order some more of the the Little Yachty’s Hot Cheese Fries.

You can get the chocolate money bars from lots of places. I got these from Hobby Lobby, but I also saw them at the Dollar Tree.

I made these ornaments for each friend at my party and took a home in the winter and the word homie and just really had a time with it. Yee haw. I thought they turned out cute though.

Fun Fact: I threw one in the trash because I didn’t like the way it turned out. Then, I used it anyways. Calm down, calm down, it was on the top.

Each chalkboard ornament came from Michael’s and they were half-off for 2 dollars each!

I also made the tags on Zazzle. It’s a Jay Z line from a song.

I put both of these games together and it was so much fun! Below, you see some rappers laughing during Scattergories. Not posed. Rap Scattergories is just that fun. Rap and Scattergories merge my two favorite things!

Also, my handwriting on those posters are booty. Again, my website is “realistic Pinterest”. In real life, people have crappy handwriting. Be encouraged.

The winner got a gift card to Starbucks. See what I did there? Do you know what made her win the whole game? Well, it was the best answer in Scattergories history. The letter was M and the field to fill out was “line from a rap song” and she put, “Mind on my money and my money on my mind”. Mic drop. That’s a lotta Ms y’all.

That’s a wrap! I hope I made your Christmas just a little more gangster….

the way it should be.

Merry Hollabaes, friends!

Dia-versary: “Giving It Our Best Shot” 2 Years Of Fighting Type 1 Diabetes Party

22nd May 2016

Any diagnosis is hard so I am happy to add to this category of “You Had A Party For What” a celebration of surviving, being brave, and working the heck out of the hand you’ve been dealt!  This has endless applications and possibilities for any diagnosis and any milestone within that.  This party has all of my heartstrings!

My little girl was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease Type 1 diabetes (not to be confused with the much more prevalent and different Type 2 diabetes) a few weeks after she turned 4 and she takes it all in stride!  Here’s a party to show her our support and to commend her tough girl bravery!  I hope this party blesses someone and encourages like parties for those in your life who have been given an unexpected hand to play.

I had my good friend at Red Haven Letters on Etsy create a custom tag for me for “Giving it our best shot”, don’t you love the play on words?!  I pretty much got so excited I peed when I thought of it.  I knew I wanted to do something with syringes because unless you pump, that is the type 1 life! Megan is super talented and did these for me wayyy last minute.  Like, 48 hours before the party last minute!  You can order these cute tags and signs from her there if you like this party.  They aren’t listed in her shop, but you can tell her you saw this party and she will have the file!

What’s more positive than good vibes napkins at a diagnosis anniversary?  Oh, I know…these awesome printed plates to go with the cute good vibes napkins!  I got them both from Target and they are the Cheeky design brand.  They donate meals for every purchase of their paper goods!

Listen, in my past life aka before kids, I decorated cakes for people.  I thought, “Oh, I’ll try sugar cookies decorating for this party for my daughter.” It’s safe to say, I prefer cakes.  I super-tron hated the experience so these were my first and last lazy attempt at making and decorating sugar cookies.  My little girl was pleased and the favors looked how I had hoped as a package deal so we all win…

1-20160520-IMG_0277

Okay, so the shot tags are even cuter when paired with the shot cookies and band aids!

1-20160520-IMG_0191

These pens were 6 for 3 dollars from the Target Halloween favor aisle.  Yes, I’ve been hoarding them since Halloween….  You can still find them on line in many places, including Amazon.

I made this shirt for my girl on Zazzle, where you can literally customize anything you want!  The back wasn’t supposed to print out in black or with the word butt so she could wear it to school…or really…it wasn’t supposed to say anything at all but it was funny and she looked cute. If there ever were a shirt I wanted my 6 year old to wear that said butt, it’d be this one!

My sweet sister-in-law gave my child this sweet necklace that says as you turn it, “Be Brave & Keep Going”.  The perfect thoughtful gift for a night like this!  She has a matching one she wears so it was even sweeter!

The 2 on this cute little cake comes in to play because it’s her 2nd anniversary of her Type 1 diagnosis.  She’s not the world’s biggest 2 year old.  Didn’t want any of you confused.

If this isn’t the most funny and relate-able Type 1 thing to write on a cake, I don’t know what is!!!
