Is this the cutest Christmas gnome ever?! My daughter made these years ago at school and I loved them and couldn’t find them on Pinterest anywhere! So what do I do? Make them myself and show them to you. They weren’t intended to be tree toppers, but when I see this guy I’m like, “Get your butt up on the tree right now.”
Materials:
Toilet Paper Roll
Hot Glue Gun
Scissors
Felt
Poms
One Cotton Ball
Just a few dollars of supplies will make tons of these fellas!
Assuming that you have a standard toilet paper roll, cut a rectangle out of felt that is 4 inches by 6 1/2 inches. Wrap your rectangle around the toilet paper roll and secure it with hot glue.
Next, you’ll cut a second rectangle to make the gnome hat and you will cut it to the same dimensions as above. Once it is cut, you will then need to fold it in and secure it in to a cone shape like seen below.
After you have made his little cone hat, now you need to attach it on the gnome, but first, add your nose and cotton ball beard.
Glue the pom to the top center of the toilet paper roll where the top of the nose lines up flush to the edge of the roll.
Next, take your cotton ball and slowly work it and stretch it with your fingers carefully in to a beard shape. I took a second little piece of the beard and made it sort of like a little mustache on mine. Once you are done, hot glue your beard down under and touching the beard.
Now for the grand finale….gluing on the hat! If notice, the sides of the hats come down fairly far on both sides of the beard as shown below. The hat should be angled to where it hangs down over where the eyes would be and slightly coming down over top of the nose.
Once you have found your perfect angle, glue that sucker down, please.
Poof. Bang. Yesssssss! Make them in any color and do a fun tablescape with little gnomes, attach them to a gift, or use them as a tree topper like me! Look at him. You love him, right?
