Volcano Theme Gender Reveal Party: Her Party Pants Original Party

29th February 2016

When I came up with this idea, I needed an invite and Megan at Red Haven Letters on Etsy, made this for me!  She’s a friend and she’s talented and rolled this out for me so there was lots of winning involved.  She creates prints, invites and does custom work as well.  Check her out!  She is on a short break after just having a sweet baby but she shall return!

And before we really get rolling, a HUGE thanks to Joel Ham Photography for providing me with these awesome pictures and for providing many of the stock images I have used over the years between my 2 sites!

Pink or blue?  Either way we’ll LAVA you!

Don’t you LOVE this tissue paper garland I found on Amazon?!

Do you recognize these “volcanoes” I made?  These were the mountains I made for my sister’s super simple mountain shower.  I painted them black, cut of the top, stuffed them with tissue paper I trimmed to look like lava and there you have it.  I’ve used these cones/tree things 3 times now!  They are now laid to rest.  You’ve been good to me, guys.  Thanks for the memories.

Pick a lei!  Solid color for a boy, rainbow colors for a girl.

Mini lava cake bar with options for hot fudge, caramel sauce, fresh pineapple chunks (from coring the pineapple vase), strawberries, powdered sugar, and cinnamon!  Simple, cute and yummy!

Cupcakes with chocolate Lindor truffles on the inside.  Fill the cups, plop a truffle in and cook to cupcake directions.  I’ll admit, these are lazy man’s lava cakes and they weren’t very “lava”, but they were easy, good and best of all THEME RELATED bam!  A lava cake bar is unique too, y’all, and I love unique!  They were rich cupcakes at the end of the day but the hot fudge helped make them lava like.  Pretty much all lava cakes are from scratch and made and served on the spot.  That is hard/impossible to do at party!  I looked at GFS and they did have frozen individual lava cakes but for 65 dollars for 24 and I needed 35 or more.  PASS! On to lazier, cheaper, less stressful ways…

NOW FOR THE BIG VOLCANO REVEAL!!!! I will post this week how I made the reveal volcano and what in the heck I did to get this effect.  I did not use baking soda and vinegar!  Not big enough effect for me!

Yep, that’s blue!!!! Much bluer in person!  Check out those reactions! That’s how people look when you’ve had three girls in a row and then a surprise boy!

Come on!  This is great!

Our little hula girls were SO excited!!! It’s what they prayed for! (Minus the baby who is in denial.)

I let all of the kids at the party play in the volcano after it was revealed!

I ALWAYS do a name reveal.  This time I did name cards and sent them home with family.  All of the cute with none of the opinions, haha.  Frances Jane Crosby, the full name, is neat because my mother-in-law is Jane and her mother was Francis.

Kid favors: Volcano brand (how perfect) popping candy!  I put 5 in each bag and topped them each with tissue paper “lava” and tied them with baker’s twine.  You can never go wrong with baker’s twine.

Oh what fun!!! Darren said, “WOW!” 😉 I can’t imagine switching gears to a boy after having 3 girls! Your girls are going to have so much fun! Congratulations to your family of 6!

I almost choked when you said family of 6, haha. Oh it’s super weird to think of having a boy! I’ve never shopped in the boy departments so when I walked in Old Navy the other day I thought, “This is so weird that this is even going to apply to me now!” We are excited and still sort of in a surreal state!

This is so great! Yay for baby Crosby! LOVE the volcano idea, too. I’m so excited for you, Lance, and the girls! They are going to spoil this little BOY rotten 🙂

Thanks! I think they are going to be crazy over him because they are so ecstatic it’s a boy in general!

  3. Nereida

Congratulations! 3 boys to 1 little girl hasn’t been much different other than pink and not blue now. I suppose we will notice more as she gets older. 😉 Excited for the Parrot family!!

I feel like the reverse transition will be much different, for me anyways! It’s so surprising when you’ve had three of one and then bam…you get the opposite! I know you know! We are so excited and the girls are over the moon =0)

Ahhh!! So excited you’re having a little boy!! Love the name and love your gender reveal party. 🙂 I bet those little girls are pumped to have a baby brother!! I sense they will all be little mothers to him. 🙂 Or at least that’s how my nieces are with our 2 boys! Very excited for you!! I obviously can’t speak about having a daughter and what that’s like…but it seems like I’ve always heard that something is extra special about a baby boy and his mama (kind of like Daddy’s girls). Nothing sweeter than when my baby boy looks at you like he’s so in love. 💕😍☺️

I wish I could have a boy that was normal and healthy but with no penis but I’ll adjust haha. As a mom to three girls, I’m a little wigged out. I can’t wait to see what it’s like because I can’t get my head around how different this will be! It’s surreal! And the girls prayed for a boy every time they would pray for a baby and I would say, “I don’t think we will have anymore but we can talk to God about it…” =0) They have some powerful prayers and are now accepting prayer requests =0) Thanks so much for the sweet words, friend!

You are beyond creative! Loved the party! You think of every detail. I’m so excited you all are having a boy! Now about the name…I love it. I was hoping you would say “Crosby” named after one of the men in Parenthood because you loved parenthood so much. Haha,jk. Your name meaning is way better. So excited for you all!! Crosby is going to be well loved!

Thank you so much!!! So I’ll survive a baby penis?! Haha, it wigs me out as a professional with being a woman and having three little girls! Thanks for all of the sweet compliments. I wish I could have 10 more kids for 10 more parties =0) I’m hoping to do unique gender reveals for others for this blog now =0) Your new baby looks just like your husband! He’s so sweet! Loved the pics of the boys both laying on you =0) And the name Crosby has been our name for at least 2 years now but no boys came!! Too bad it was on Parenthood but yeah girl, I loved the mess outta that show!

  6. Jen McCraw

So excited for you!! Just think of the blog subject having a boy opens up to you – “how we caught a frog on our dining room table”, “the day I had to assemble a rocket toy”, “how to dress squirrels up like pirates”, “did you know boys like to act like they’re world class boxing champs 24/7?!”…. The possibilities are endless!! 😉 Love you, love your family, love your blog!!

  7. Amy

OMG! OMG! OMGEEEE!!! I’m so so happy for you and your husband, y’all finally get your boy!! Yay!! I love the reveal party and you looked beautiful, as always!! Loving the name too, very unique and different! Awesome Sauce!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👶🏼👼🏼🎾⚾️🏈🏀⚽️🏐🏉!! Lol
