Creative Guest Book Alternative Turned Home Decor

25th March 2020

On my last post I showed you my retirement party for my OBGYN. For that party, I had everyone sign silhouettes of Kentucky with reasons why they loved her to put in a large glass jar that she could use later. I had a moment when I was laying it all out for the party that I thought to put all of those KYs in a double-sided floating frame as a gift so that she could have a sentimental decor piece and still be able to read both sides!

I found this killer Joanna Gaines frame on Target.com and it is only available on-line. It comes in three sizes and these frames are so great that you could put them anywhere with tons of things between the two glass panes. I love them big time.

Here is how it turned out!

This is great for a cool home decor piece in general, so much so that I made myself one with leftover Kentuckys. I think it is a great way to do a non-traditional guest book that you can multi-purpose into something they can use for their home! Raise the roof if you’re with me? I ended that as a question, but really, you need only raise the roof.

Customize this any way you want for any sentimental reason, event, or personal interest. States are a great idea, but you could do so many different things. If you don’t have a machine to cut shapes, you can always find just about anything or customize anything on Etsy.

Fun times! Am I right?!

OBGYN Retirement Party

3rd March 2020

How is this old general store for a piece of Americana?! My Jersey born and raised OBGYN just retired and I was asked to do her retirement party! I know she won’t always live here in KY so I wanted to give her a solid and unique Kentucky party to remember all of her years here by. Meet Boyce General Store! Boyce Store is a running restaurant out in the county that is run by The Pie Queen. She has her pies in some Whole Foods locations and ships all over the nation! She gets the name honest and you should check her out. I literally….literally….ate one whole pie by myself the day after. Sad times. Great pie.

I came up with this wording two years ago when I was first asked to do this retirement party. The wording never gets old. Go-vary….the phrase of the future for all of your reproductive party needs.

These AMAZING truly vintage tablecloths are owned by the Boyce Store and can be used at your event. This store basically decorates itself. There isn’t a more charming venue in town!

I had no idea that sunflowers were my doc’s favorite flower. I just took a guess. Something about the way she gives a pap smears made me think, “Sunflowers. This woman loves sunflowers.”

I added latex gloves because every medical party needs blown up gloves! I first used blown up latex gloves at my daughter’s type 1 diagnosis anniversary, also known as a diaversary!

Those little tiny purple flowers are called wax flower and I love them around a pie and back.

FUN FACT ALERT: The square cake stand to the right was literally Duncan Hines’ cake stand!

We had a mix of homemade pies served with coffee and lemon and lime water. Chess, pecan, derby, brownie, chocolate silk, coconut cream pie, we had them all! They were yummy in my tummy.

“A Sweet Ending” over the pie table and “To A New Beginning” over the drink and scrapbook table. Swoon.

And the ovary puns just don’t stop……

In my hometown there is a bakery that has been here since the 40’s. Their most popular item are their famous tea cookies and they just so happen to be my OB’s favorite. These were supplied by a patient and co-worker who, like all of us, loves her dearly.

I hired a friend of mine to use her machine to cut these Kentucky shapes out of scrapbook paper for me. Also by hired, I mean for free.

I have something cool I’m doing with these now post-party that I will share in a different post.

I created a Facebook group and requested people send me pictures so that I could hang them up at her party.

These pill bottles make my heart soar on the wings of a hundred doves. These were grab and go favors and filled with those little tea cookies I talked about above.

The labels I customized on Etsy from the shop Bsquared and printed them at Staples where I do all of my party printing.

There are very few doctors on planet earth who have patients who love them enough to host a party for them. This woman is one of the finest doctors to practice medicine. She served us all with as much expertise as she did time and empathy. She comforted us through infertility, through loss, and through the magic of delivering our children. Dr. Kasica deserves a hundred parties for every late night call, 2 .am. delivery, thoughtful question, and for every treat she kept for my children and other’s in her office. Twenty five wonderful years of a career and dear lady we got to call our doctor. We love you, Dr, Kasica! Thank you for caring for and loving us well all of these years!

Guinea Pig Printable Valentines

31st January 2020

These guinea pig printable invites are from my FAVORITE source for printables: KudzuMonster on Etsy. I did a post on some of my favorite Valentine’s of hers last year.

My daughter got two guineas for Christmas so, of course, it’s what she is in to right now. KudzuMonster, no surprise had these one-of-a-kind Valentine’s in her shop. Coming to a 4th grade class near you.

Guinea pig tested and approved!

Gift Card Ornament Packaging

25th December 2019

Sometimes people hate on gift cards, but I love them. No shame! I love to package them in cute ways and this idea is cute AND cheap. All my frugal ladies….all the frugal ladies….
– Beyonce

These clear ball ornaments are available year round in the wood craft and glass jar aisle at Hobby Lobby. You can score one for a little over a dollar! Just hot glue a line to the bottom of the ornament and affix the gift card. Hot glue peels off with zero effort from the card so once again, hot glue is the world’s best.

I bought a bag of styrofoam snow for a dollar from the Dollar Tree and I filled several little gifts with one small bag.

I hot glued on some leaf sprigs and added poms and twine and that’s all folks! Hope y’all are having a Merry Christmas!

DIY Pom Christmas Cupcake Topper

20th December 2019

Materials:

Glitter Cardstock

Hot glue gun

Poms in assorted colors and sizes

Thin ribbon

Toothpicks

Pencil

Aren’t these the cutest?! I made these for my daughter’s kindergarten class because 5 year olds really appreciate DIY 😂.

These are as simple as cutting out your design and hot gluing on the poms. It really doesn’t get easier!

If you aren’t too hot with drawing, just use a stencils or cookie cutter to trace your shapes. For my wreath circle, I traced a pill bottle. So easy.

I love how these turned out and I hope they inspired you to make some of your own 😊

Merry Christmas!!!

DIY Christmas Gnome Tree Topper

16th December 2019

Is this the cutest Christmas gnome ever?! My daughter made these years ago at school and I loved them and couldn’t find them on Pinterest anywhere! So what do I do? Make them myself and show them to you. They weren’t intended to be tree toppers, but when I see this guy I’m like, “Get your butt up on the tree right now.”

Materials:

Toilet Paper Roll

Hot Glue Gun

Scissors

Felt

Poms

One Cotton Ball

Just a few dollars of supplies will make tons of these fellas!

Assuming that you have a standard toilet paper roll, cut a rectangle out of felt that is 4 inches by 6 1/2 inches. Wrap your rectangle around the toilet paper roll and secure it with hot glue.

Next, you’ll cut a second rectangle to make the gnome hat and you will cut it to the same dimensions as above. Once it is cut, you will then need to fold it in and secure it in to a cone shape like seen below.

After you have made his little cone hat, now you need to attach it on the gnome, but first, add your nose and cotton ball beard.

Glue the pom to the top center of the toilet paper roll where the top of the nose lines up flush to the edge of the roll.

Next, take your cotton ball and slowly work it and stretch it with your fingers carefully in to a beard shape. I took a second little piece of the beard and made it sort of like a little mustache on mine. Once you are done, hot glue your beard down under and touching the beard.

Now for the grand finale….gluing on the hat! If notice, the sides of the hats come down fairly far on both sides of the beard as shown below. The hat should be angled to where it hangs down over where the eyes would be and slightly coming down over top of the nose.

Once you have found your perfect angle, glue that sucker down, please.

Poof. Bang. Yesssssss! Make them in any color and do a fun tablescape with little gnomes, attach them to a gift, or use them as a tree topper like me! Look at him. You love him, right?

Rap Theme Christmas Party

9th December 2019

Listen, I am going to start off by saying that a rap party is my dream party. I wanted to throw myself a rap party for my birthday but couldn’t so, rap Christmas was born! Ho ho ho, players.

Few people love rap as much as me. I’d play some Christian rap at my funeral in a heartbeat. Tell me I’m lyin’…. Some of y’all are gonna want to come to that party too now. Everyone’s invited.

I hope that Biggie, Pac, and Jay really get your heart in the Christmas spirit. Merry Christmas, y’all. It ain’t nothin’ but a Christmas party.

Source for this Tupac file: SaraLuDesign on Etsy

What would you do if someone handed you one of these guys to invite you to a party? I handed them to myself a few times to act like someone was inviting me to my own party because…..I mean…..rap Christmas.

They are actually rapper Christmas cards that I used as party invites and they were everything I wanted! You can find them here:

Tupac and Snoop: YeaOhGreetings on Etsy

Biggie Claus: MakemTakem on Etsy

Number one: Did I wrinkle this red paper runner in to lines on purpose so I could write straight? Answer: No, my 5 year old stepped on the roll of paper and it was all I had left. See, now you know why I call Her Party Pants “realistic Pinterest”. In real homes at real parties, kids be ruining your set up and all that mess.

Number two: Couldn’t you have just gone to the store and bought more? Answer: This is getting really personal.

Number three: Tupac had a song called “Dear Mama” that said, “Dear Mama, You are appreciated.” That’s the last thing I have to say about my serving table runner.

These amazing cupcake toppers came from JazzNJayCreations on Etsy and I was so excited about getting these! They are one of my favorite things that I used for the party.

I’m real happy to see you in my dessert, Jay Z. 90’s and early 2000 Jay Z is probably my favorite rapper ever. Good job, Jay.

I hope you guys really like the cassette tapes on this tree because some real-life 90s karaoke tapes of mine were painted for this event. I added gold chain, which I bought by the roll at Hobby Lobby. I bet you didn’t know Hobby Lobby had some gangster in it’s life but, you’d be real wrong.

I added the Busta ornaments because nothing screams I love 90s rap and Christmas like Busta Rhymes. If he doesn’t make you holler “Merry Christmas and I love this rap party”, then you probably hate the holidays. It’s a guess.

I made this ornament by ripping one of the heads off of my cupcake toppers from JazzNJayCreations on Etsy and then hot gluing some string on the back.

I made this ornament by ripping the face off of one of my rapper cupcake topper sticks that I had in the desserts I served. I saved this rapper for the tree to spice things up a bit.

Yes, your eyes do not deceive you. These are called Hiphopsicles and they are as magical as you are feeling like they are right now.

This is how I decorated myself. This is a real gold chain. You are so welcome. I ordered this shirt from Zazzle and if you don’t know where this wording comes from….you might not like this party near as much as me.

That’s right. Happy HOLLABAES. This is getting wonderful. I bought the card stock and had my friend use her machine to the cut the letters for me. I jumbled the letters all up so she wouldn’t know what I was spelling so she couldn’t guess the theme lol. Surprise you stinkin’ little hollabae cutter!

This picture is missing two, but these are some extra special homies who I invited as people who would appreciate this kind of 90s rapper’s dream come true.

I used stiff felt and a big ole’ one dollar ornament from Mighty Dollar to make these holly and berry pieces. They were so easy and I loved them big time.

Garland I already owned? Check. A pack of hunnit dolla bills for one dollar? Also, check. Easy table centerpiece? You bet your momma check.

I made all of these mugs myself and everyone got to take one home! I got the mugs from Mighty Dollar and they are actually heavy and substantial!

Using an oil-based Sharpie marker, I whipped up these up. (Any by “whipped” I mean like an hour and a half of wiping them off with alcohol and starting again.

Started from the bottom now we deer... That is a phrase from one of YeaOhGreetings cards where I bought two of my “invites” from.

Help you with your cuh-reer” I made up and it was one of my favorites. Get it…Mrs. Clause….with Santa….Lizzo….help you with your cuh-reer….

All the Jingle Ladies I have seen before and Beyonce isn’t a rapper, but her husband is soooooooooo I’ll take it!

Will I live to be twenty fo’? The way things is goin’, I don’t know. I also came up with this scene of the snowmen falling down and with the help of these Coolio lyrics, all was right in the world.

fa la la OKURRRRRR..….Well, I didn’t invent fa la la and Cardi B says OKURRR, but I put this together as a fun holiday recipe.

Snow Torious….that’s obvious right? Please say yes….

I’ve been wanting to use a gold chain necklace for two years now. Welcome home, friend. You’re safe now.

I added a dollar sign that I cut out of glitter card stock because it needed that extra-baller flare. Flare is a word all the rappers use these days.

If you need a chain link balloon in your life, they aren’t cheap because they are purchased link by link, but you can find them tons of places on Etsy.

I bought these cheetah cuffed stocking from, drum roll please…..Dollar Tree. Sorry if that threw someone off with the Dollar Store bit and my parties. Below is what all I put in them.

You read those chips right: Rap Snacks. It’s like the universe was saying, “Hey, I want you to really do this party.” I got them on 70 percent off clearance from Spirit Halloween for 50 cents a bag! I walked up to the counter with a big arm full and said, “I bet you were wondering who was going to buy all of these. It’s me.” True story.

Fun fact: They are actually really stinkin’ good. I legit may order some more of the the Little Yachty’s Hot Cheese Fries.

You can get the chocolate money bars from lots of places. I got these from Hobby Lobby, but I also saw them at the Dollar Tree.

I made these ornaments for each friend at my party and took a home in the winter and the word homie and just really had a time with it. Yee haw. I thought they turned out cute though.

Fun Fact: I threw one in the trash because I didn’t like the way it turned out. Then, I used it anyways. Calm down, calm down, it was on the top.

Each chalkboard ornament came from Michael’s and they were half-off for 2 dollars each!

I also made the tags on Zazzle. It’s a Jay Z line from a song.

I put both of these games together and it was so much fun! Below, you see some rappers laughing during Scattergories. Not posed. Rap Scattergories is just that fun. Rap and Scattergories merge my two favorite things!

Also, my handwriting on those posters are booty. Again, my website is “realistic Pinterest”. In real life, people have crappy handwriting. Be encouraged.

The winner got a gift card to Starbucks. See what I did there? Do you know what made her win the whole game? Well, it was the best answer in Scattergories history. The letter was M and the field to fill out was “line from a rap song” and she put, “Mind on my money and my money on my mind”. Mic drop. That’s a lotta Ms y’all.

That’s a wrap! I hope I made your Christmas just a little more gangster….

the way it should be.

Merry Hollabaes, friends!

DIY Fanta Costume

1st November 2019

Sort of last minute my daughter got asked to be soda themed costumes with a group in her school’s Halloween parade. Guess what my child chose? Grape Fanta. Guess what I couldn’t find on Amazon to be shipped to my house in enough time for Halloween? Yep, a grape Fanta shirt. Therefore, off to Hobby Lobby I went to get supplies to make her a Fanta shirt.

I TRULY believe that almost anything can be made from felt and hot glue. I have made almost all of my kid’s costumes from these two crafting materials. It’s all so cheap that it chokes me up with joy.

It took me about an hour total to make this shirt. I made my own stencil from copying it from the computer screen and cutting it out letter by letter. Here she is!

For the grapes, I used a Styrofoam snowman ornament kit that I got 50 percent off for just a a little over a dollar! I painted them, hot glued them together, added felt leaves, and the hot glued the whole thing on to a hair clip I took an old bow off of. Super easy. I ALMOST added a straw coming out of the grapes by painting a toilet paper roll, but I changed my mind. Does anyone drink from soda cans with a straw? I don’t know.

DIY Halloween Treat: Frankenstein Tongue Depressor Craft

28th October 2019

Hey, hey, hey, Halloween is only 3 days away! Because of this I figured I would hand make a logo shirt for my child’s Halloween parade and make treat crafts AND put it all on a blog 72 hours before.

I am so stinkin’ tired. I just made my hubby take all four kids on a car ride so I could finish this little post, ha.

So this weekend we had my church fall festival and one of the women put together a little tongue depressor craft she found on Pinterest. I thought they were so cute just as the stick figures and then it gave me in inspiration:

“Turn them in to candy holders to give at a class party!,” the voice said to me. I had been trying to come up with something for my son’s class treats so I was super stoked. Thanks, voice.

All you will need is:

googly eyes (obsessed with them this season, apparently)
hot glue gun
pack of colored tongue depressors
pipe cleaners
Sharpie
Candy of your choice

I saw a picture of a mummy sticks wrapped in white pipe cleaners and if you wanted to do a spin on my idea of turning this craft into packaging, wrapping a piece of candy up in the pipe cleaners would also be cute!  You could do almost any theme or holiday with these tongue depressors and using them in this way is the cutest presentation!

Here are my Frankenstein tongue depressors with candy! Put their names on the back and hand these puppies out to be a Halloween diva princess….or a mom….or whatever.

Googly Eye Halloween Hershey Kisses

23rd September 2019

Halloween Hershey Kisses, googly eyes of your choice, and a hot glue gun (the medium of the craft gods) and you can make some of the cutest treats around. Package them like I did in clear pretzel bags from Hobby Lobby or hand them out individually with the rest of your candy. If you don’t get some serious high fives for these, then….you hang out with people who are unfamiliar with the fiving of hands.

I saw a post from years ago by Somewhat Simple where she used black googly eyes on kisses and knew that I must run with it. I have to give her a shout out, because I hate it when people use my stuff and don’t give me a holler. I can’t find her post anymore, but I tried! It looks like it may not be there anymore?

I found googly eyes at Hobby Lobby that looked like real eyeball colors and thought that they gave these a spookier flare and they looked really cool mixed with the regular black googlies.

This is so fun and easy to do with your kid…..or by yourself….doing 75 by yourself. That too is fun….
